Hi all

Good morning! Please forgive my abruptness if this question being improper here. We would like to know if the LIVOX MID-40 is being placed at 1m distance, what would the accuracy may be for x/y direction, respectively?

According to the spec, it reads "Range Precision: 1\sigma @ 20m = 2cm", can we suggest that

step1. 2\sigma is 4cm (@20m)
step2. by proportion: "4cm:20m = x cm:1m", we get x = 0.2cm
step3. in statistics, 2\sigma could cover 95% of the possible result
step4. hence we have precision 0.2cm @ 1m (2\sigma)

Is such deduction reasonable to the sensor? Please kindly advise if anyone has such experience and willing to share. Thank you in advance.

Best Regards
Dex

Hi Dex,
The σ comes from the three-sigma rule of thumband is the evaluation standard for equipment accuracy.

The technical index "< 2cm/1σ(@ 20m) " means that the pointcloud Range Precision at 20 meter of the device with 68.2% probability is within 2cm.
